This fully accredited program is for you whether you want to teach or simply dive deeper into what you love. The training is designed to open us up so that we can serve our community from a place of humility, grace and compassion.

Over the course of four weeks you will study the history and philosophy of yoga - the ‘Why’ that makes sense of our practice - including applied anatomy, technique, and teaching skills.

A course led by world class, knowledgeable, experienced and inspiring yoga teachers, led by Chris Wilson and Ryan Mannix, who are all about heart led yoga.

To us this means asana with expert alignment cues, intelligent sequencing, perfect pacing, movement with breath and inspiring conversation that takes us right into the heart.

In this training you will be given an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of Yoga as well as a felt sense of the philosophy. You’ll be given the key to a practice that will unlock your fullest potential.

Each instructor brings their own expertise and perspective

Chris has been sharing the practice of yoga and meditation since 2007. He fell in love with yoga and meditation in is early 20’s as it brought peace and clarity to a turbulent mind. Over the past 20 years Chris hasn’t stopped learning and evolving his understanding. Among the many teachers he has studied with, Chris has been primarily inspired by Erich Schiffman, Richard Miller and Rupert Spira. He sees yoga as the simple intimacy with the truth of each moment.

Having lead over 20 200-Hour teacher trainings, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. He is most passionate about encouraging teachers to teach from their heart, that is to listen and be guided by their authentic experience.

Chris was previously co-owner of Power Living Melbourne and is the founder of Yoke Yoga.

Alongside sharing yoga and meditation his dharma is to be the best dad he can be.

CHRIS WILSON - YOKE FOUNDER

Ryan has been sharing his passion for yoga through teaching classes both in Australia and abroad, leading workshops and co-leading teacher trainings since 2014. Before teaching yoga, Ryan was a professional runner and multi-sport athlete so has always had a passion for movement. This is emphasised in his classes, which are high energy, strong and playful. His passion is flow and creative sequencing, providing students an opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally.

COURSE CURRICULUM

  • ASANA

    Our focus on asana will help you to strengthen your capacity as a student and take your personal practice to a whole new level. You’ll benefit from first hand experience of anatomical and energetic alignment that creates the most expansive practice and learn how to give this gift to your students.

    You’ll learn how to demonstrate and how to assist, so that you can effectively communicate with all students. You’ll learn to teach safely, effectively and with confidence

    We’ll cover:

    • Detailed study of all yoga postures including modifications of poses, appropriate use of props and principles of alignment
    • Physical and energetic benefits of postures
    • Hands on adjustments
    • Learning to see and understand bodies
    • Creating a class and learn intelligent sequencing
    • Verbalising asana: learn to give clear, simple instructions

  • ANATOMY

    We’ll study Western Anatomy & Physiology with a focus on understanding on how to create safe, stable alignment in asana. We’ll study Yogic Anatomy in order to understand the energetic effects of yoga asana on the body and mind.

    We’ll cover:

    • The musculoskeletal system, the spine, the nervous system, physiology of breathing
    • Principles of stretching, twisting, backbending and forward folding
    • The Koshas
    • The Chakra system
    • Breath & Pranayama practices

  • PRACTICE TEACHING

    Every day we’ll practice teaching. You will receive immediate feedback to help you refine your teaching skills and feel at ease in front of a class

    You’ll receive personal coaching to help you find your authentic voice as a teacher. We are here to support you every step of the way.

  • BEYOND THE ASANA

    We’ll let you in on the best ways to integrate the physical with the spiritual.

    We’ll encourage you to reflect upon your own life through the lens of the yogic teachings and investigated with curiosity and openness

    We’ll teach you how to translate your life lessons to an experience on the mat that can inspire, excite and uplift students.

    We’ll help you use your own unique voice and life experiences to speak to what’s real in the classroom

    We’ll give you some great tools for sharing your heart with your students

    We’ll help you to define your purpose and dharma as a teacher, so that your message is clear

  • HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY

    • We’ll provide you with a detailed overview of this living tradition to help you make sense of your place in the history of yoga
    • We’ll introduced you to some of the most influential yogis of our time
    • We’ll discuss different lineages and philosophies so that you can define what yoga is for you
    • Together we’ll study The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and learn how this ancient text is relevant to our lives today
    • Together we’ll unpack the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and engage with it’s messages and themes

  • RETREAT - ‘REMEMBER TRUTH’

    An immersion into the heart of yoga.

    Our retreat at Gymea Eco Retreat in Byron Bay will be one of the most soul affirming experiences of your life. Expect an experience that will illicit feelings of goodness that will hold you steady through life’s challenges.

    An immersion into the Heart of Yoga in an environment that is ripe for awakening. You’ll be nourished by a fresh, prana-rich vegetarian diet and surrounded by nature. You’ll be encouraged by your fellow yogis and supported all the way by our teachers. You’ll get right into the yogic lifestyle and experience. You’ll experience a deepening of self-awareness

    We’ll cover:

    • Daily meditation
    • Long, strong asana classes
    • Mantra practice
    • Group sessions and activities that encourage us to reflect, with tenderness and compassion on the tendencies of the mind.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • All Yoke Teacher Training programs are registered with Yoga Alliance, the largest professional association for yoga teachers and schools.

    All graduates of Yoke are automatically eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) and teach internationally.

  • All cancellations must be received in writing to hello@yokeyoga.com.au with as much notice as possible.

    Refunds will be given according to the following schedule;

    $1,000 is non-refundable.

    Students will receive a 75% refund if requested 60 days or more before the course, and a 50% refund if requested after 60 days. No refunds will be issued less than 30 days in advance. Submission of your payment indicates your acceptance of the cancellation policy.

    No other refunds or credits are available. Please contact us if extenuating circumstances apply and other refund terms may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
